At the Harbor Fish Market

Original framed oil painting. One of my favorite haunts for artistic inspiration is the Harbor Fish Market located on the waterfront in Portland, Maine. In this painting, the butterfish and Spanish mackerel are real, but the composition is straight out of my head. I wanted the position of the trays to create a Piet Mondrian abstract-like look. I also wanted to see if I could make the fish look shiny and iridescent without using iridescent paints. I feel that I met the challenge!
